The former Zag turned Orlando Magic guard is expected to make a full recovery.

What a rough blow for the Gonzaga legend that led the Zags to a 2021 National Championship appearance. Jalen Suggs is out indefinitely due to a trochlea injury in his left knee. According to Shams Charania, he experienced discomfort in his ramp-up to return to play. Luckily, he’s expected to make a full recovery and a treatment plan is being developed.

Suggs had to be escorted off the floor in a wheelchair at the Toronto Raptors on January 3rd due to back spasms. He last played on January 25th against the Detroit Pistons but couldn’t finish the game and had to go through further testing.

In his fourth season, Suggs is averaging career-highs of 16.2 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, and 0.9 blocks per game in 35 games played. The Magic have struggled without him as of late, losing three of their last four matchups.

It’s hard to say at this point of time but it seems best for the Orlando organization to shut Suggs down for the rest of the season. A precautionary measure that is best for the future of the franchise.
